Governor Pat McCrory joined nearly 300 state government and military leaders at a summit to encourage hiring veterans in state government. The summit was part of Governor McCrory's efforts to make North Carolina the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation by connecting veterans and transitioning military members with job and education opportunities. The summit was put on by North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME), a public-private partnership program launched by the governor last year.

Two Office of State Human Resources staff, Nelcine Dudley and Kassia Elliott, participated in a hiring event at Fort Bragg on April 5, 2016. OSHR teamed up with the NC Department of Public Safety to hire service members for Correctional I and II positions. Dudley and Elliott helped soldiers fill out their applications online.
