A Day of Prayer and Reflection

We pause today to pray, reflect and thank God for the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Join us for corporate prayer wherever you from 9am-11am for our nation and our community as we face the realization of the urgency of now. Continue to pray and join us in our efforts as we continue on this journey to achieve a more Beloved Community that reflects the wholeness of our humanity.

The Triangle Uplift Foundation is proud to partner with the Triangle Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee to sponsor a Youth Innovation Summit for young people in the Triangle area. The goal is to reach minority, female, and other underrepresented students by providing an opportunity to increase students’ confidence and identity, and to inspire them to pursue study in STEAM-related fields of study. The Summit will provide a rich, collaborative environment exposing them to innovative ideas and programming that will ignite their interests and help them see pathways to a successful future in these careers. The event will target middle and high schools students in the Triangle area.

MLK Day of Service- United Way of Greater Triangle
Various Locations throughout the Triangle

This four-county community service day helps empower and strengthen local communities. The United Way of the Greater Triangle has hosted an average of 2,823 Triangle volunteers at close to 40 service projects to pack soup mixes, make blankets, create literacy kits, read to kids, and more to honor of Dr. King’s legacy of service and to strengthen local communities. Make plans now to recruit your friends and family to work together to make MLK Day 2018 a “day on not a day off.”

United Way of the Greater Triangle, in partnership with the Triangle MLK Committee, asked students from North Carolina Central University, NC State, Shaw University, Saint Augustine’s University, Wake Tech, and William Peace to come up with ideas to address issues they believe are the most urgent. This social innovation challenge, Idea Generation Next, can help answer, “Where do we go from here?”— ideas to make their communities more vibrant places to live is a way to move forward with pride and purpose.
