Employee Recognition Week

We all know the important role state employees play in the lives of North Carolina residents and visitors. They preserve public safety, ensure our water and air are clean, build and maintain our highways, educate and inspire students, and provide for advancements in medicine and technology. To honor public employees, Governor Cooper proclaimed May 7-13, 2017, as “State Employee Recognition Week” and May 10, 2017, as “State Employee Appreciation Day.”

The North Carolina celebration is in line with the national employee appreciation week. This week of recognition and appreciation is an excellent opportunity to express appreciation to state employees. We depend on our employees and their dedication each and every day. As in years past, the week provides an opportunity for team-building, connecting, and interacting amongst employee teams. Each agency is commemorating this week in different ways by hosting a variety of fun activities for their employees such as:

  • Pizza parties
  • Coffee bars
  • Potluck dinners
  • Employee picnics
  • Special awards ceremonies
  • Ice cream socials
  • Handwritten thank you notes
  • Food truck rodeos
  • Fun and games

State employees are the backbone of this state and even though there is just one week of recognition activities, state employees are appreciated each and every day.
