2018 State Employees' Wellness & Safety Expo

The 2018 State Employees’ Wellness & Safety Expo was hosted by the NC Office of State Human Resources and the NC Department of Transportation on August 1, 2018. With the help and planning of partnering agencies and universities, the Expo provided an opportunity for Wake County and surrounding-area state employees to speak with wellness and safety professionals from across the state that offer services at a free or reduced rate to state employees. This year, more than 4,100 state employees came to the NC State Fairgrounds to learn how they could improve their wellness and safety habits! They also took advantage of screenings, such as bone density, mammography, biometric, body mass composition, and kidney to name a few. In an effort to give back to the community, state employees also set a record for blood donations provided to the American Red Cross at the Expo.

The Expo Planning Committee would like to extend their thanks to all the state employees who came out to make this event a success! They look forward to making this event possible again in 2020.

2014 Wellness and Safety Expo distributes information, food

The 2014 Wellness & Safety Expo provided state employees with a wide array of opportunities to increase their knowledge of health promotion, disease management, hazard recognition and injury prevention. Employees were able to take advantage of health screenings, educational demonstrations, educational sessions provided by physicians, therapists, certified diabetes educators, and safety professionals. Many employees even took the time to give back to the community while attending the Expo. From their unselfish efforts 43 pints of blood were collected, surpassing the goal of 40 pints which was set by the American Red Cross. In addition, 698 pounds of food were collected through the food drive. That enabled the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina to provide 587 meals to those in need.

Thanks to the over 170 vendors participating in the 2014 Wellness & Safety Expo, state employees were able to garner beneficial information useful to themselves and their families.

And a big THANK YOU to all the employees and volunteers who made this event possible.
