"I didn’t know what to expect when I took a state job with NCDAC. Turns out it was the best move I’ve made. I started out as an assistant/helper in the field on the network team, just learning the ropes across NC prisons. After a short time gathering information and getting into the routine, I worked my way up and quickly became the lead installer for new network projects. Now I’m hands on with infrastructure builds and installs at all facilities across the state. NCDAC gave me guaranteed work, fair pay, and treated me like family from day one. When my daughter was born, I got work leave to be with her. When Helene hit and my family was struggling, NCDAC had our back endlessly. On top of that, once I gained the hours and experience needed, my leadership signed off on my eligibility to get my low voltage license so I could keep advancing in my career. I keep the network running in NC prisons, and NCDAC keeps me and my family supported. Proud of how far I’ve come, and grateful to NCDAC for giving me the chance to grow."

"The most fulfilling part of my role is helping individuals find careers that align with their interests and goals. Work plays such an important role in our lives, so it is meaningful to support others in finding opportunities where they feel a sense of purpose. In this role, I have had many opportunities to grow professionally, including gaining experience in program support, strengthening my technical skills, and developing strong communication and interpersonal abilities. I've also had the opportunity to collaborate closely with agency and university partners, which has been incredibly valuable for my development. Our team is highly collaborative and supportive, and we're fortunate to have strong leadership that fosters a positive work environment. The service focused nature of our work allows us to prioritize meaningful impact, which makes what we do especially rewarding. I consistently leave each day feeling accomplished and positive about the work we are doing."

"Temporary Solutions provided me the opportunity over 20 years ago to get my foot in the door with state government. Coming straight out of graduate school I found it challenging to be screened in as a qualified candidate for the permanent state government positions. A friend from grad school told me about Temporary Solutions so I applied with them and began as temp administrative assistant with the N.C. Division of Emergency Management in 2005. That opportunity led to a permanent position with NCEM in 2006 as a grants manager. Since then, I've had the good fortune to work with so many incredible people throughout all of state government as my career advanced to my current position of Senior Deputy Secretary for Organizational Performance at the NC Department of Adult Correction. Temporary Solutions opened the door for me into a career with state government, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in starting a state government career."
