Affordable Care Act

The Affordable Care Act was passed in March 2010 in an effort to expand insurance coverage to all Americans. Annual Enrollment for the 2016 calendar year is from November 9 through December 4, 2015. The North Carolina coverage will be effective January 1, 2016, for BEACON agency temporary employees who are eligible for and enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) offered through the State Health Plan.

If you are a state employee or a health benefits representative for a state agency, here is information you need on the annual enrollment.

State Agencies

State agencies are required to comply with the guidelines and rules established by this legislation. State Employees

The State of North Carolina offers several health insurance coverage options to all permanent, full-time employees. For temporary employees, a separate coverage is available through the State Health Plan (known as the High Deductible Health Plan) in compliance with the Affordable Care Act.
