Dr. Margaret Brunson

Special Advisor for Organizational Health

As Special Advisor, Dr. Margaret leads the development and integration of organizational health across OSHR and the State of North Carolina. She serves as a strategic advisor, guiding agency leaders to align organizational strategies with employee effectiveness and engagement.

As a transformative leadership scholar-practitioner, she brings deep insight from 20+ years of experience in health and human service organizations. Dr. Margaret has a proven track record of guiding numerous leaders and organizations through significant transformations, including strategic planning and cultural shifts.  

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, and a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from North Carolina A&T State University.

Dr. Margaret serves on the boards of Blackspace, a digital makerspace empowering Black and Brown youth, and Knox St. Studios, which fosters economic mobility. A proud product of her community, she is a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, published author, writer, and speaker.
