Lanier McRee

Deputy Director of Administration

Lanier McRee is the deputy director of administration for the N.C. Office of State Human Resources (OSHR). In this role, she oversees the office’s business operations, communications, and legislative functions.

She brings over 17 years of state government experience to OSHR, previously serving as assistant state budget officer at the Office of State Budget and Management (OSBM). Earlier in her career, Lanier was a fiscal analyst at the North Carolina General Assembly. At both OSBM and Fiscal Research, her role focused extensively on budget development, employee compensation and benefits, and the use of evidence in policy making. Prior to joining the public sector, Lanier spent five years in management consulting for the financial services and transportation sectors.

Lanier earned a master’s in public policy from Duke University, and a bachelor’s in economics from Davidson College. She also holds a graduate diploma from the London School of Economics. Lanier currently serves on the N.C. Supplemental Retirement Board of Trustees, as chair of the board for Haven House Services, and is a past president of the Junior League of Raleigh.

She lives in Raleigh with her husband and a rotating menagerie of foster dogs.
