Communications Director

Schorr Johnson has served the state of North Carolina in varied communications and executive roles for more than twenty years.

Johnson began his career in a North Carolina congressional office. For four years, he was Communications Director for the President Pro Tempore of the North Carolina Senate and members of the Senate majority. Johnson also worked as Communications Director for North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor and led communications for the Department of State Treasurer, where he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff. From 2017 to 2021, he served as the Department of Revenue’s Director of Public Affairs. Most recently, Johnson was Communications Director for the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources from 2021 through 2026.

A native of Statesville, Johnson graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science. He was a 2011 fellow at the Institute of Public Leadership. Johnson lives in Raleigh with his wife, two children, and various pets.
