RALEIGH, NC – They could be spending their golden years relaxing at a beach or traveling the world, but they’re eager to come to work every day, anticipating what each new day will bring.

More than 40 employees, with 45 or more years of service to North Carolina state government, will be honored with the Caswell Award.

The award recognizes employees for their noteworthy extended service to state government. It was named after Governor Richard Caswell, who served two terms as Governor and dedicated most of his adult life to serving the citizens of North Carolina.

Most of the recipients started working for the state in the 1960s and 1970s and they’re still on the job, working hard to make a difference in the everyday lives of people who need help from the state. They’ve seen many changes in the last few decades and have interesting stories to tell about the transformation of state government through the years.

The Office of State Human Resources is hosting the celebration. A reception will follow the ceremony. Media wishing to attend must RSVP by August 7, 2015.
