The 2016 Wellness & Safety Expo provides state government employees and retirees with free health screenings, cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, and opportunities to learn life-saving skills. The event takes place at the NC State Fairgrounds, on Wednesday, May 11th.
“This expo gives state employees and retirees a chance to access a wide range of wellness- and safety-related exhibits,” said Neal Alexander, Director of the Office of State Human Resources. “They can take advantage of the various educational sessions provided by physicians, health coaches, and safety professionals.”

ADMISSION: Two non-perishable food items
Chef Curtis Aikens, one of the founding hosts of The Food Network, will show attendees how to eat healthy without sacrificing flavors. WRAL-TV’s Brian Shrader and Lisa Prince from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will prepare a ‘local dish’, in addition to other scheduled cooking demonstrations.
More than 150 vendors will provide information on fitness, nutrition, and financial wellness. State employees can get HIV testing, fire extinguisher training and watch CPR demonstrations on site.
Attendees are encouraged to give back to the community by bringing two non-perishable food items for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and donating blood to the American Red Cross.
