What is the North Carolina Employee Assistance Program?

The State of North Carolina knows that there are times when life, work, and financial matters can be stressful. That’s why we have partnered with MYgroup to provide permanent state employees with an employee assistance program. The North Carolina Employee Assistance Program (NC EAP) is a state-sponsored benefit program that offers the support and resources you need to address personal or work-related challenges and concerns. Best of all, it’s free for permanent state employees and members of their households and completely confidential.

NC EAP is designed to help with all kinds of life situations. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • marital difficulties,
  • family problems,
  • parenting,
  • stress,
  • balancing work and family,
  • relationship issues,
  • work-related concerns,
  • depression,
  • alcohol and drug use/abuse,
  • grief and loss counseling,
  • elder care,

NC EAP benefits can be accessed through the MYgroup website or by calling (888) 298-3907. If you have not logged in before, you will need to create an account first. To create an account, you will need your agency's company code. If you have not received information about the code, contact your agency HR department for assistance or call MYgroup at (888) 298-3907.

MY Portal offers online resources that give employees access to thousands of up-to-date, topic-related articles, videos, podcasts, calculators, checklists, forms, and webinars related to health and wellness, family, aging, education, mental health, career, legal, and financial information.

Financial and Legal Services

NC EAP offers free, personalized consultations on financial and legal matters, along with discounts on ongoing legal services. Additional resources include 24-hour emergency legal assistance, legal mediation services, financial support, and identity theft prevention and resolution services.

Visit the MYgroup website for web-based services, or simply call (888) 298-3907 or (704) 717-5295 to access NC EAP. An employee assistance professional may assess your situation prior to scheduling an appointment to ensure that you are receiving the most appropriate care.

The Employee Savings Center is found under BenefitHub on the MYgroup MY Portal website. The savings center requires an additional login step, which you can complete by following our access instructions.

Many NC EAP benefits can be accessed through the MYgroup website, MY Portal, or you can reach out to a representative directly for personalized assistance. When you contact NC EAP, you are offered a needs assessment by a MYgroup Clinical Care Partner. If it is determined that the concern can be resolved through problem-solving counseling sessions, an employee assistance professional will assist in resolution. If it is determined that a referral is needed for ongoing support, NC EAP will connect you with the most cost-effective resources for care.

NC EAP offers permanent state employees and their immediate household members access to:

Confidentiality is an essential part of the NC EAP. Your company will not know of your participation in the services nor have access to any information without your consent. The only exceptions are when someone’s safety is in question.
