North Carolinians will have the opportunity to explore job openings with more than 30 state agencies and universities at the fourth annual State of North Carolina Career Expo, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, at the Sheraton Imperial RTP in Durham. North Carolinians of all education and experience levels are invited to register for this free event.
“North Carolina has the best workforce in the nation, and the Career Expo will help connect them to opportunities to serve the people of our state,” said Governor Josh Stein. “Our agencies and universities are eager to recruit more public-spirited people ready to make a difference on Team North Carolina.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore current job openings at 33 state agencies and public universities by visiting those organizations’ dedicated booths. Recruiters will engage with prospective candidates, answer questions and provide guidance. Some agencies will also host information sessions throughout the day.
“Year after year, this Career Expo grows in number of jobseekers and hiring agencies, resulting in successful job matches,” said State Human Resources Director Staci Meyer. “We’re always looking for talented people who want to make a difference. If you’re interested in serving our state, please join us at the 2026 Career Expo and explore the opportunities that North Carolina has to offer.”
This year’s Expo will feature representatives and resources from a variety of public service offices:
- State Health Plan
- NC Flex
- NCWorks – including an on-site mobile unit available to help candidates set up a profile and apply for jobs
- State Employees Credit Union
- Dress for Success Triangle NC
- OSHR Learning and Development
- NCWorks Veterans Services
- Ed2NC
- DHHS Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities – available to provide services for individuals with disabilities
- Temporary Solutions – a division of the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources, conducting information sessions, sharing temporary job opportunities across the state, and offering tips on applying for state jobs
