Open Enrollment for NCFlex Benefits
Enroll for 2025: Sept. 30-Oct. 25, 2024
Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to enroll in or make changes to your NCFlex benefits.
Be sure to update your choices and re-enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts to ensure you and your family have the coverage you need next year.
Do I Have to Enroll?
You must re-enroll in Health Care and/or Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) each year to make contributions to the upcoming plan year. If you do not re-enroll, your current contributions end on December 31, 2024.
Reviewing available options helps you make the best benefits choices for you and your family for the upcoming year. However, your current elections for all plans except FSAs will roll over at 2025 rates if you do not make changes by Friday, October 25.

News for 2025
Dental Plan Rate Changes
Rates for the NCFlex Dental Plan will increase by two percent for 2025.
No matter what option you elect, you can receive benefits for basic services, such as fillings, extractions, root canal therapy and treatment for gum disease, as well as diagnostic and preventive services like oral exams, cleanings and x-rays.
The Classic Option and High Option also cover major services, such as crowns, dentures, bridges and more. View all Dental Plan details.
Make Health Screenings More Accessible
Regular health screenings can be crucial to detecting serious illnesses early. The NCFlex Accident Plan, Critical Illness Plan and Cancer Plan make regular health screenings more accessible by including wellness benefits.
The benefit is payable once per year, per covered person for completing an eligible health screening. Some tests may overlap all three plans, meaning you could have a wellness benefit from all three plans if enrolled.
Find information on the wellness benefit for the Accident and Critical Illness Plans and review the details of the Cancer Plan's wellness benefit.
Income Protection with NCFlex
While we can't see the future, we know accidents, illness and death are realities we'll face. But NCFlex offers several plans that can help offset out-of-pocket medical expenses, help pay bills if you're out of work and give you and your family peace of mind during difficult times.
The Cancer and Critical Illness Plans pay you when you experience certain unexpected, serious illnesses. The Accident Plan pays if you're injured due to an accident and seek medical attention—even for some of the smallest injuries. The Disability Plan pays a regular benefit if you're disabled and cannot work. And, if your income is lost because you're seriously injured or pass away, the Term Life* and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Plans* can help.
*Employees of the University of North Carolina System are not eligible for this benefit.
Hear Directly from an NCFlex Representative
Join an online benefits meeting during Open Enrollment to hear directly from an NCFlex representative on the plans available to you and submit questions to be answered in real-time. These meetings will discuss NCFlex benefits only. For information on the State Health Plan, view the SHP's list of upcoming events.
