Class Concept
This role provides both technical and administrative oversight and management. Work involves providing for the effective and efficient storage retrieval customization and archiving of data spanning a university, agency, or division within an agency by managing multiple sets of data to assure an integrated database system for all users. Work includes a strong consultative role with application developers and computer center management to assure that the conceptual and design phases of new systems applications are consistent with the database software format. Maintains data integrity as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken. Work involves the integration of large and functionally independent computer systems with one another through the use of shareable data elements.
Recruitment Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to manage timelines, resources, and personnel (internal staff and contractors), and direct implementation efforts to completion.
Knowledge of technologies and systems in-place with the capability of supporting these technologies and maintaining relatively stable system environments.
Working knowledge of database concepts and architecture.
Working knowledge of database planning, forecasting, and implementing organizational change that impacts database infrastructure.
Ability to manage unit priorities and task assignments with regards to project work and daily tasks.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience including two years in the design and maintenance of an integrated database system; or Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and four of progressive experience including two years in the design and maintenance of an integrated database system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
