This is supervisory work in the care and maintenance of floors. Employees supervise a work force that is continuously engaged in cleaning and repairing various types of floors. Work schedules are prepared for regular maintenance and renovation needs and jobs are assigned to crews on this basis. Duties include determining labor and material requirements for work projects. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through inspections and conferences.
Recruitment Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of all types of floor surfaces, methods, materials and equipment used in maintaining such surfaces.
Skill in the use and care of floor maintenance equipment.
Ability to supervise and manage a work force.
Ability to perform simple record keeping.
Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to determine time requirements for specific jobs and schedule crews accordingly.
Ability to train employees in floor maintenance work.
Minimum Education and Experience
Education and/or experience in floor maintenance work that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade equivalent to two years of experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
