This is specialized work in the production of dental restorations and appliances. Duties include performing quality control checks and monitoring the quantity of work performed. Employee also may function independently in a small complex laboratory and perform a wide variety of tasks in fabricating dental appliances. Work is performed under the general supervision of a technical superior and is reviewed for proper technique, accuracy, and adequacy of laboratory program.
Recruitment Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the working qualities of porcelains, plasters, platinum foil, dye material, gold, waxes, acrylic veneers, and other materials used in fabrication and restoration.
Thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of Dentistry and of Dental Anatomy.
Ability to adapt general dental techniques of fabrication of specialized dental fixtures and devices.
Ability to supervise other laboratory employees and establish a harmonious working relationship between the Dentists and the laboratory workers.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school or General Educational Development diploma and satisfactory completion of an approved twoyear dental laboratory technology training program.
