Work in this class involves the supervision of a group of machinists and apprentice machinists engaged in fabrication, modification, and repair of parts and equipment through the operation of a variety of multipurpose precision machine tools. Positions instruct machinist and apprentices in the operation of various machine tools commonly found in a well-equipped machine shop. Work also includes the assignment and review of tasks performed by other trades personnel in related repair work.
