Class Concept
The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based solutions that meet business needs. Positions within the class design and implement cloud-based solutions using cloud platforms. Positions ensure that all cloud infrastructure meets regulatory and compliance requirements. Positions develop and maintain cloud architecture frameworks and standards.
Positions lead the development of cloud-based solutions and provide technical guidance to the development team. Positions design cloud solutions which includes analyzing business requirements, designing solutions that meet those requirements, and ensuring scalability, security, and high availability. Positions may be responsible for implementing cloud solutions including configuring and deploying cloud solutions, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues to ensure that solutions are running efficiently and meeting business requirements. Positions are responsible for the evaluation and recommendation of new cloud technologies and services that can improve the performance and efficiency of the state's infrastructure.
Positions develop maintenance processes and procedures and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that cloud infrastructure is scalable, secure, reliable, and optimized for performance. This requires the position to maintain cloud solutions, which includes managing cloud infrastructure, including monitoring and updating systems, and ensuring that they are secure, scalable, and highly available. Positions often also monitor cloud infrastructure performance and proactively identify and address issues as they arise. The position is responsible for continuously improving processes which involves identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
Positions manage stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This includes working closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements, gather feedback, and ensure that cloud solutions are meeting business needs.
Recruitment Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of cloud architecture principles, cloud infrastructure design and implementation, cloud security, and compliance
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms including public cloud platforms
- Thorough knowledge of cloud infrastructure components, such as virtual machines, storage, and networking
- Thorough knowledge of cloud infrastructure best practices, including security, scalability, and performance optimization
- Sound understanding of cloud financial management
- Working knowledge of DevOps methodologies and tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with business stakeholders
- Ability to lead and mentor technical teams.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or closely related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of progressive IT experience including four years of experience related to cloud architecture design and/or implementation; or Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years of progressive IT experience including five years of experience related to cloud architecture design and/or implementation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
