Celebrating Executive Order 82
Today marks the 5th anniversary of Executive Order No. 82: Promoting Health and Wellness by Clarifying Protections Afforded to Pregnant State Employees. Executive Order No. 82, signed by Governor Cooper, extends workplace protections and modifications to pregnant state agency employees upon request unless doing so would create an undue burden or cost for the agency. The EO directly and positively impacts maternal and child healthcare and long-term health outcomes (physical, mental, emotional), and supports women in the workforce and family wellbeing.
Join us in celebrating the many ways this important directive benefits families and enables state employees to work confidently, safely, and comfortably throughout their pregnancies.

The State of North Carolina recognizes that an effective and efficient government requires the talents, skills, and abilities of all qualified individuals. The State supports a work environment that fosters respect and values all people regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, ethnicity, sex, pregnancy, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age (40 or older), political affiliation, National Guard or veteran status, genetic information, or disability. We seek opportunities to promote diversity and inclusion at all occupational levels of State government’s workforce through Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) initiatives. The Office of State Human Resources leads the State's EEO efforts by developing programs and policies that promote equal employment opportunity, diversity, and fair and impartial treatment of all employees.
