This is entry level professional work across program areas, which may include forest management, fire control, pest control, or water quality. Employees report to a professional forestry supervisor and are usually assigned to a specific geographical area such as a district consisting of four to ten counties. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary. Provides technical supervision and program oversight to Forestry Technicians.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of technical forestry as they apply to forest protection and management
Intermediate knowledge of fire prevention and firefighting methods as applied to forests
Ability to develop and maintain good forest practices
Ability to gather and present technical information effectively in oral and written form
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Physical stamina to work outdoors for long periods of time under adverse conditions
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in forestry from a Society of American Foresters (SAF) accredited institution; or registered by the North Carolina Board of Registration for Foresters; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements
Those not registered at the time of hire must obtain registration as a Forester from the NC Board of Registration for Foresters within two years of employment.
