This is skilled work in performing specialized/technical duties in support of museum programming and/or public services. Duties may include planning and installing lighting systems for museum exhibit and/or gallery spaces; matting, framing, handling, packing and transporting works of art, artifacts, and/or specimens; assisting curators in routine collection work such as performing routine field specimen collection and assisting in cataloging artifacts and/or specimens.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of English composition and scientific writing techniques.
Working knowledge of the uses of various types of lights in lighting exhibits.
Working knowledge of the effects of light intensities on works of art.
Working knowledge of best practices for the transport of art.
Working knowledge of basic electric formulas.
Working knowledge of basic carpentry skills and familiarity with hand tools.
Ability to judge the risk and effectively minimize danger to artwork, artifacts, and specimens.
Ability to read exhibits plans and design effective lighting systems.
Ability to learn basic taxidermy or collection maintenance techniques.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience as related to knowledge, skills, and abilities in area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
