This is semi-skilled to skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Work includes the independent performance of less technical tasks of the electrical trade; as experience is gained, more technical tasks are performed under the supervision of a journeyman electrician. Assignments are received from a journeyman or foreman and are accompanied by specific instructions. The degree of supervision received depends upon the nature of assignment. Work is reviewed to determine whether basic principles and techniques are understood as well as to determine that assigned tasks are completed satisfactorily.
Recruitment Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of elementary arithmetic and units of measure.
Basic knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the electrical trade
Basic skill in the use and care of the tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
Ability to interpret and work from sketches.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
