Social Research Specialist II

Class Concept
This is professional level work in planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating social research for behavioral, economic, educational, public health, medical, public policy, sociology, and closely related areas. Work is performed to support research, or to develop, support, or evaluate public programs and policies.
Positions at this level have a project administrative role; coordinate work units within the project; and/or work on projects with broad program complexity and scope requiring more independence of action and evaluative judgments. Positions create or validate theories through data/information collection, documentation, and analysis with a goal of description and explanation. The range of duties includes, but is not limited to: project and data/information collection methodology planning, design, and modification; database development and management; data/information collection, analysis, and qualify control; program and/or policy development and evaluation; documentation of research methods and results; and preparing publications and reports and related products for use in communication, instruction and public education. This level differs from the Social Research Specialist I in the complexity of assigned research projects, greater independence and consequence resulting from analysis and/or a significant role with administratively managing research project(s).
Recruitment Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of methods and techniques used in gathering, editing, analyzing, interpreting and reporting social, educational, or economic information.
Working knowledge of statistical principles and techniques used in collecting, interpreting, and reporting numerical data.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the field assigned to the position from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
