Positions in this classification work with a wide range of public and private entities that provide instruction to individuals who wish to become accredited or certified to conduct asbestos or lead-based paint activities at various locations in North Carolina. This is higher level work than the Asbestos Inspector. Both jobs report to the Asbestos Consultant Supervisor. This work includes the approval of, or rejecting new asbestos and lead training course work, revising course work materials, working with instructors, training managers and training providers and other stakeholders who provide training to insure that all training programs meet appropriate training standards. This work may include auditing new and existing programs, providing specific consultative services and technical expertise as well as maintaining appropriate files and records for future reference.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of teaching the adult learner to include the development of educational materials and teaching methods.
Skills in evaluating and/or conducting audits of training and report writing.
Experience with MS Office automation, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data management programs.
Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, physics, industrial hygiene, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or a closed related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in safety, health or environmental work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
