Work in this class manages and supervises the Measurement Section in the Standards Division. Position develops, recommends, and implements policies and work standards and procedures to carry out program responsibilities; defines and develops resources needed to accommodate work and changing program priorities; recommends acceptance or rejection on prototype approvals to the Standards Division Director; and recommends course of action on more comprehensive or non-routine inspection violations to the Standards Division Director. Position represents Division at meetings both internally and externally. Considerable public contact is required and the position maintains contact with state and federal agencies and the weighing and measuring industry. Work may include other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations involved in the state's Gas and Oil and Weights and Measures Inspection programs.
Considerable knowledge of the principles of construction and operation of measuring devices.
Ability to plan, develop, and administer an effective inspectional program.
Ability to comprehend, explain and apply rules and regulations.
Ability to train and supervise employees.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Ability to maintain effective work relationships.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of progressive work experience in the state's Gas and Oil and Weights and Measures Inspection Program or in the weighing and measuring industry; or an equivalent combination education and experience.
