Position is responsible for assessing system wide security needs and practices for Adult Corrections/Prisons. Position is responsible for developing plans and strategies related to security threats which may impact the security of prison facilities. Employee oversees the evaluation and inspection of security systems located across the state. Consults with management at correctional facilities regarding security issues, and assists with operational reviews. The employee is responsible for managing the inmate drug testing program, as well as security threat group intelligence. Position may interface with other law enforcement agencies with information related to security threat groups, or other information which may pose a public safety risk. Employee researches new systems, methods, and techniques related to security at custody facilities. Employee routinely travel to various state correctional facilities.

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years' experience in corrections, of which five years must have been in a managerial or supervisory role, with two years' experience for overall institutional security; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements
Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
