Wellness & Safety Expo - August 1, 2018
Details of the 2018 Wellness & Safety Expo
The Expo is open to all current and retired State employees and their families. Only scheduled every other year, this event is something you don’t want to miss! See the Event Brochure to prepare and get the most out of your time at the Expo.
Join us Wednesday, August 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Jim Graham Building at the N.C. State Fairgrounds for a wide variety of wellness, health and safety information. Through demonstrations, exhibits, screenings, and safety simulations, 150-plus exhibitors will provide information on health care, fitness, nutrition, financial wellness, hands-only CPR, fire extinguisher trainings, and driver safety. From the Chef Doreen Colondres of “The Kitchen Doesn’t Bite,” who will create tempting healthy foods, to traffic safety demonstrations in the Expo’s indoor Safety City, there will be something for everyone!
Here are just a few of the activities at this year’s event:
- Diabetes Academy – Talk with Certified Diabetic Educators to get the facts on this growing health problem
- Operation Medicine Drop – Bring your old prescription drugs for disposal
- Hot Car Demonstration – See how quickly a S’mores can melt inside a closed car on a hot day so you can better protect your child or pet
- HIV Testing and Education – Free and confidential HIV screening and education
- Standing Workstations – See the latest and best in ergonomic alternatives
- Screenings, including Biometric, Heart & Vascular Ultrasounds, and Mammograms (see details below)
