Today state employees were honored with Governor’s Awards for Excellence in a ceremony at the State Archives of North Carolina.

The third annual State of North Carolina Career Expo will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Sheraton Imperial RTP, located at 4700 Emperor Blvd. in Durham. North Carolinians of all education and experience levels are invited to register for this free event.

Today, the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) launched Workday, a platform that centralizes HR practices and simplifies processes for applicants, agency human resources staff, and hiring managers. Workday also aids OSHR’s goal of attracting top talent to public service careers, helping to reduce vacancies across state government while enhancing the candidate experience.

Today, 34 state employees earn the title of Certified Public Manager during a graduation ceremony at the State Archives of North Carolina.

In response to news of a likely federal government shutdown, the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) today announced that, if the shutdown goes into effect, the State of North Carolina will be forced to implement furloughs for approximately 200 state employees starting October 1. Furloughing state employees is a decision of last resort. Given other federal cuts and a more constrained state fiscal environment, this shutdown has left the state with no other viable path forward.

Today, eight state employees are being honored with the 2025 Richard Caswell Award during a ceremony at the State Archives of North Carolina. Named after North Carolina’s first governor, this award recognizes employees who have served the state for 45 years.

Today, the State of North Carolina launched access to LinkedIn Learning for eligible state employees.  LinkedIn Learning is an award-winning industry leader in online training, with a digital library of over 20,000 courses covering a wide range of technical, business, software, and creative topics.  

Public sector employees from state agencies and public institutions will be recognized today for completing the rigorous North Carolina Certified Public Manager® Program (CPM) during the program’s commencement ceremony.

Seven state employees from three state agencies and two University of North Carolina System institutions were honored with the Governor’s Awards for Excellence during a ceremony at the North Carolina Museum of History.

State employees can use their balance of Community Service Leave -- up to three days (24 hours) of paid time off -- to volunteer with their County Board of Elections as nonpartisan poll workers during this fall’s election, the Office of State Human Resources announced today.
