Office of State Human Resources Director Barbara Gibson will participate in a listening session at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tramway Elementary School in Sanford with Principal Andrea Sloan and members of her team in support of Governor Roy Cooper’s second annual School Supply Drive.

Raleigh – The 2018 Wellness & Safety Expo provides state government employees and retirees with free health screenings, cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, and opportunities to learn life-saving skills. The event takes place Wednesday at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.

The State Human Resources Commission will hold a regular meeting at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at the Learning Development Center of the Office of State Human Resources, 101 W. Peace St., Raleigh.

*Update: The UNC System is not participating in the Statewide Compensation Project so its workforce will not be contacted about the status of job classification or title.* Most state employees at agencies subject to the State Human Resources Act will receive notification this week of their new job classification and title as part of the Statewide Compensation Project. Some employees of the Department of Public Safety, the largest state agency with a workforce of more than 22,000 people, may not receive their notifications until next week.

Seventeen state employees with 45 years or more of public service will be honored with the Richard Caswell Award at 2 p.m. today in the North Carolina Museum of History. The recipients, who work at seven state agencies, join the distinguished ranks of long-serving employees who have earned the award since it was established in 1998 in tribute to North Carolina’s first governor. Collectively, the 17 have devoted more than 766 years to public service.

Governor Roy Cooper presented 12 state employees with the Governor’s Awards for Excellence today during a ceremony in the NC Museum of History. The recipients of the prestigious award were selected from 115 nominations. It is the highest honor a state employee may receive for dedicated service to the state and the people of North Carolina.

After 16 months of intensive training, 51 professionals, most of them state government employees, graduated from the NC Certified Public Manager® Program (CPM). The graduation ceremony was held October 2, 2017, in the NC Museum of History auditorium, with a crowd of family, friends and coworkers. Office of the Governor Chief of Staff Kristi Jones delivered the keynote address to the graduates.

First Lady Kristin Cooper, state leaders and other dignitaries, honored 15 state employees who have served North Carolina for 45 years or more during a ceremony at the North Carolina Museum of History.Employees, from across the state and representing several state agencies, were presented with the Caswell Award.

Cooper has appointed Barbara Gibson to direct the Office of State Human Resources to work on behalf of the state’s thousands of employees. Gibson is one of the longest serving state personnel directors and has led the NC Department of Justice Human Resources Department for 16 years. 

Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) Interim Director Paula Woodhouse toured the Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) in Salemburg and New London earlier this week.
