The NC Office of State Human Resources invites state employees and the public to recognize the 49th anniversary of Women’s Equality Day with a special virtual program featuring Gloria Steinem, the renowned American journalist, political activist and leader in the global feminist movement.
State of North Carolina recruiters will participate in a Virtual Government and Non-Profit Jobs Hiring Event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 27. Jobseekers visiting the State of North Carolina chatroom will have the opportunity to meet with representative of state agencies and the UNC System Office to learn about the vast scope of jobs available across North Carolina.
The NC Career Advancement Resources for Employees on the Spectrum (NCCARES) pilot program is accepting requests from employees with ASD who need support in achieving workplace goals.
WalkSmartNC will partner with State Capitol Police (SCP) and Raleigh Police Department (RPD) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday to conduct a pedestrian and motorist safety awareness event. A program of the NC Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) that is funded by NC Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP), a division of the NC Department of Transportation (DOT), WalkSmartNC will promote safety at a high-traffic location in the Downtown State Government Complex during the busy lunchtime period.
The NC Military Spouse Transition Network is available to all identified military spouses working for state government agencies in member states of the National Association of State Personnel Executives. The program is designed to help military spouses moving to or leaving North Carolina access career resources, including resume building, skills translation and informal contacts to support military spouse re-employment.
In recognition of Friday’s national observance of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, the new NC Military Spouse Transition Network will support State of North Carolina employees seeking similar jobs elsewhere due to their spouse’s redeployment, as well as assist state-employee from other states whose military-member spouse has been redeployed here.
Five state employees with 45 years of public service have been honored with the 2022 Richard Caswell Award. The recipients, who work at four state agencies, are commended by Governor Roy Cooper and State Human Resources Director Barbara Gibson in a video message recognizing them for joining the distinguished ranks of long-serving employees who have earned the award established in tribute to North Carolina’s first governor.
Participants of the Virtual Career Fair for Individuals with Disabilities (9am-6pm April 13) will have the opportunity to talk with State of North Carolina job recruiters about opportunities across state government.
Designating North Carolina as an Employment First state for individuals with disabilities in 2019 has had a positive impact on how employees are perceived and supported in state government workplaces, according to several state agency and university employees.
