Here’s what to expect on your temporary job-seeking journey with the State of North Carolina and Temporary Solutions.

1

Let us know you’re interested in temporary work

The best way to get started toward temporary employment with the State of North Carolina is to let us know you’re interested! You can do this by contacting our recruitment team or submitting an interest card, application, or resume directly to us.

2

Search and apply for posted temporary jobs

The State’s Job Opportunities page is your resource for searching and applying for open temporary positions through Temporary Solutions 24/7. Feel free to reach out to us if we can help! Our main telephone number is 984-236-1040 and our email address is tsrecruit@nc.gov.

3

Recruiters gonna recruit!

Our recruiters work with State Agency employers to learn about their temporary employment needs and job opportunities. When you submit an interest card, application, or resume directly to us, we store your information in our job seeker database and share it with State Agency employers when temporary employment opportunities arise matching your skill set. When you apply for a temporary position online, we review your qualifications and send your application to the employing Agency.

4

The employing agency decides who to hire

With job seeker information in hand, the employing Agency follows its own candidate selection process. This may involve an interview and, for some positions, a background check. The Agency notifies Temporary Solutions of who they want to hire.

5

We consult with the agency about the job assignment…

The employing agency provides us with their recommended candidate’s name and important details about the job assignment, such as the hourly rate, start date, and length of assignment. We consult with the agency and make sure these details meet state and federal work requirements.

6

…and then we offer the really great job to the really great person!

We email an offer of employment to the recommended candidate with everything they need to know about the assignment. If they accept the offer, we send them an onboarding packet to complete in DocuSign. It includes information about temporary employment with the State of North Carolina, withholding forms, and direct deposit enrollment instructions. We’ll also ask them to complete a state job application if they haven’t already.

7

We finalize the job order and enter the candidate into the system

We work together with the employing agency and recommended candidate to confirm the assignment details, particularly the assignment start date. Temporary Solutions then enters the new employee’s onboarding information into the state’s Integrated HR-Payroll System. We send an email to the employing agency and new temporary employee once we complete the hiring action in the payroll system.

8

Done and done!

The employee reports to work at the agreed time and place. If the agency assigns the employee an NCID, the employee can enter time, maintain their personal information, view their pay stubs, and more!
