Executive Orders
General Statement
Executive orders are not laws but have the power to impose a course of action. They are designed by the Governor to give direction to the executive branch of government departments or university personnel to execute. Each governor has the opportunity to review executive orders of their predecessors and they can rescind or continue them.
In North Carolina, Equal Employment Opportunity-related executive orders have been issued by the following governors: James B. Hunt, James G. Martin, Michael F. Easley, Beverly Eaves Perdue and Pat McCrory.
