Memorial Program

The State Employee Memorial Program honors State employees who lose their lives while in the line of service for North Carolina.

Read the Memorial Program Guidelines

Upon the death of a state employee on the job or in the line of duty, the Office of State Human Resources will coordinate having a personal letter sent to the surving family member(s) from the Governor of North Carolina and the Director of the Office of State Human Resources.  Agencies may order a North Carolina flag, that was flown over the Capitol, to present to the surviving spouse or relatives.

A resource has also been created for supervisors and State employees tasked with notifying the deceased's next of kin.
