At the NC Association of Government Officers annual seminar last week, OSHR’s communications team received first place in the Internal Communications/Employee Engagement category for the 2016 Excellence in Communications Awards for the newsletter The Resource.

Ten state employees were honored with the Richard Caswell Awards, an award presented to state employees who have contributed 45-years of service to the State of North Carolina and its people.

Today, 38 individuals enrolled in the NC Certified Public Manager® Program (CPM) graduated. Their ceremony was held inside the NC Museum of History auditorium.

The 16 state employees being honored have made a positive and noteworthy difference in the areas of customer service, efficiency and innovation, public service, human relations, outstanding state government service and safety and heroism. They were selected out of 118 nominations submitted.

Out of 118 nominations submitted, 16 state employees have been chosen for this year’s prestigious ‘Governor’s Awards for Excellence.’ It is the highest honor a state employee may receive for dedicated service to the State and the people of North Carolina.    “Their passion for public service helps improve the quality of life for those who choose to live, work and raise families in North Carolina,” said Governor McCrory.

The International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) has selected the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) as the 2016 recipient of the IPMA-HR Agency Award for Excellence for large agencies.

Governor Pat McCrory announced that C. Neal Alexander, a Lincolnton resident, is stepping down effective August 31 as State Human Resources Director to pursue a role at Gardner-Webb University, his college alma-mater.

OSHR received two prestigious awards from the National Association of State Personnel Executives (NASPE) this week. OSHR Director C. Neal Alexander, Jr. received the Eugene H. Rooney, Jr. Award for HR leadership and Deputy Director Paula Woodhouse accepted the Eva N. Santos Communications Award for OSHR’s newsletter The Resource, which received recognition for its excellence in state government HR communications.

Governor Pat McCrory has signed the $22.3 billion state budget which includes salary increases for North Carolina state government employees, effective July 1, 2016. “This increase is part of an ongoing effort to modernize HR practices and help align state employee pay with the market range for similar jobs,” said Neal Alexander, Director of the Office of State Human Resources. “It will help us in attracting and retaining the best and brightest to serve the people of North Carolina.”
